Trick of the Mom Trade #2 - Frequent Breaks
With Hubby working more lately I am the only person in the house to deal with all of the things that come up with 4 kids:homework
dinner
soccer games
fund raising
schedule planning
snack day/show and tell
laundry
housework
grocery shopping
meal planning
cooking
fights (or if I were more honest brawls)
energy management
All of this is enough to fill ten times the amount of daylight hours that have been allotted to all of us. It's certainly enough to have this Mom calling out uncle in the hopes of someone else stepping in. Over the years I have found that in order to be the kind of Mother that I would want to have myself - I have to take care of myself. I have to allow time for myself to recharge and rejuvenate. If I don't a melt down will rear its ugly head. Think crying in the grocery store or while pumping gas.
One of the greatest ways that I have found to avert Mommy Melt Downs is to take advantage of the break in reality that books provide during the times that there is another adult in the house. I can either let myself get wrapped up in a great mystery, romance or just inspiration to say no more often.
Here are some of my latest reads:
Read and loved anything lately? I am always on the hunt for a great book. What do your breaks from Motherhood look like?

I used to get lost in books a lot more often. I wish I still could!
