100 Things About Me {First 10 - almost}

1. I am a sucker for a cause, fighting for the underdog and will try to help when I can. Just recently I bought all the cakepops that I needed for a year so that a portion of that money could go for a great cause. I donated blood in honor of a family that lost a child. I have been feeding a neighbor hood boy both from my kitchen and from my heart. I love causes. I love being a part of the fraction of people who are doing good.

2. I don't care enough about my laundry to separate whites from colors from towels. I just throw it all in together and have been washing in cold water for years. Without even buying cold water detergent. I don't really use fabric softener either. My towels are a bit scratchy...but I'm OK with it.

3. I truly believe that passion creates energy. So I am constantly getting really involved in what ever I am currently in love with. Right now it's crochet...but in the past it's been scrapbooking, geocaching and heathy eating. I still love all of these things and practice most of them. But there is nothing like that first few weeks of discovering something new.

4. I am a voracious reader. I recently got the kindle app and in love with the fact that I can read anywhere. While I much prefer a real life book that I can fold the pages down on (yes I do that) I will read just about anything. This love though is really hard to pass to my children. No matter how many times I try to get them interested in a good book...they don't care yet. This week I am going to try and visit some antique shops looking for children's books. I want at least one of the shelves in the play room to be dedicated to books.

5. I am really argumentative. I constantly have to remind myself that I don't always have to be right. That some things are not worth arguing over. I love to look up facts though and show the other person that look I am in fact right. It's perhaps my worst trait.

6. I puffy heart love a lot of things: coffee, shopping, diet coke, stationary, purses, antique shopping, crocheting, shoes, a good book, getting lost in a moment of my day, sunshine, vacations, blogging, the way that my body feels and looks when I take the time to treat it right, twitter and my Iphone at the moment. All current loves are subject to change with out notice or warning.

7. I have a lot of will power where breakfast, snacking, lunch, water intake and exercise is concerned but all bets are off at dinner time. No amount of things about all the hard work or discipline that I have put in during the day can deter me from a bowl of salsa, guacamole and chips. My poor family doesn't stand a chance at getting an equal portion while eating with me.

7. I love games of chance. While on vacation recently I might have put $15 dollars worth of tokens into this game just to be able to get this stupid ballon to pop. It was so fun and the kids were really into it. I hope that they are learning from me that it's OK to value the simple joys in life. That when you look back on your experiences those simple memories will be the ones that you share again and again.

8. I love to try new things. Recently I have tried duck, tofu and edamme. I want to teach my kids that you can't say you don't like something that you have never tried. That's why it's a major rule in my house that you must try everything on your plate. You don't have to eat it all but you MUST eat at least one bite. Dipping your fork into it and tasting that way don't count.

9. I don't get mad when something of mine gets stolen. I figure if the person that took it needs it badly enough to steal...they need it more than me. Don't get me wrong, it's frustrating to deal with the consequences of living this way. But the simple truth is: If I have something that you need more than I want it - Ask, and it's yours.

10. <-- I ask that you fill this one in. Tell me something about yourself. It could be something that you love in a major way or a hard truth that you know about yourself. Blogging is such a simple way to connect with other people and you are the ones I want to connect with.

  3. I definitely don't have that same outlook on stealing. You're a bigger person than I am.

    I hope your kids pick up your love of reading one day!

  4. I must have read Cheaper by the Dozen at a very important time during my formative years because, as I realized recently, efficiency is VERY important to me. I pick up things off the floor as I walk by and try not to stop. I never walk to the back of the house unless I'm carrying something that needs to go there and vice versa. It's a blessing and a curse!

  5. I've read that using fabric softener on towels makes them less absorbent - so you can say that you've been doing it intentionally all along! :) (I don't use softener on towels or sheets because my skin is so freaky sensitive.)
