Hip Mama Status Update
Last night I stepped out of my house wearing this...it was hard - heck if I was being totally honest it was hard stepping out of the bathroom wearing it. I have been working on my Hip Mama Status for the last few months spending my allotted $100.00 every month trying to add clothes that make me feel good about myself.
After years of wearing either maternity clothes or clothes to cover up all that I loathe about my body - it's strange to see myself in a picture like this.
But it's working.
Clothes really do change the way that you see yourself and your body. Don't get me wrong - I know that while you can't see it - those tights were stretched to their limit, my stomache was sucked in for all it's worth and in the back of my mind I was thinking the boots looked an awful lot like stripper boots.
But I felt fun, girly and cute. Hubby was super excited to see me in something other than jeans and a t-shirt. It's been a really long time - like years since I have worn a dress. After all the compliments that I've gotten in the last few weeks and Hubby's encouragement I have decided to go Hog Wild!
Oh your not from my neck of the woods and you don't know what that means?
I've been holding things in my Old Navy cart for the last week - browsing every day - dreaming about having endless amounts of money so that I can just get one of everything. But I refused to give in and shop without a coupon code...
Even last night when I felt like I was on top of the world...I still refused to give in because I knew that as soon as I hit confirm order - Old Navy would release a coupon code worthy of a good cry.
Thank goodness I waited - this morning when I woke up - there she was - 30% off using "ONWINTER" excludes outerware (which is already on sale.)
So I went Hog Wild: Bought a whole lot.
I really wanted to thank all of you who commented or e-mailed me yesterday. I love the my blog readers offer support, encouragement and a "been there, done that" attitude. I know that a lot of your read my e-mails but don't comment - I would like to encourage you to reply if you have something to say, add or just a question - I welcome all feedback.
What have you gone Hog Wild about lately?

I'm so excited for you! Love the new outfits! I hate to get caught up in clothes, but it is also so important to have confidence! So shopping is necessary sometimes. :) You're looking great!
ReplyDeleteAlso the giveaway post looks great! Thanks for being a great friend!
Wait until they see you in Zebra shoes, then they will see your wild side.....
ReplyDeleteYou got all of that from Old Navy? Wow! There's some really cute pieces in there!
ReplyDeleteI use to be the "frumpy momma" until about a year ago. I looked at my wardrobe and thought to myself, "Gee.. that's just pitiful."
I do still wear a lot of jeans and tees, but I've changed things up even there. My jeans fit comfortably. My tees aren't plain and "blah" - I've turned into a total graphic tee nerd, and have found some other really cute ones as well, that are cut really neatly, or have an added design. And I make sure my shirts are nicely fitted now, not too big.
The best part though, is I picked up some skirts, dresses, and heels along the way. While it takes a good day to talk myself into wearing them, when I do finally put it on, I feel amazing!
So way to go. You're doing great! It's amazing what a nice wardrobe can do for your self esteem.
LOVING every single thing you just bought & I may steal a few of them for myself. Love the skinny jeans with those buttons (so cute mama!), the Zebra flats & that polka dot tank. That black jacket was awfully cute too. You look fantastic! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI so want to be like you. I hide in my jeans and t-shirts too. When I shop I just don't find what I'm looking for. I can't find a nice shirt for anything. I also would love to get back in skirts and dresses, but find that everyone makes them in too fitting and too short styles for me. I do like the skirt, shoes, and boots in your pictures though. I have boots a little like them and love them in teh winter!!!
ReplyDeleteThat polka dot blouse is *adorable* - how'd I miss that?!
ReplyDeleteYou seriously look too cute in that photo, and you know I wouldn't lie to ya! I really need a pair of black boots, so you're inspiring me to get with it and find a pair!
You bought all that at once? That fit into your $100 budget? Amazing! I wish I had a clothing budget! You look adorable! I wish I had a fashion consultant! I could use that show What Not To Wear! LOL You are going to look adorable. I'm expecting a fashion show with those outfits!

Love all the new finds at Old Navy. I buy myself plenty of clothes (just ask my husband) but I almost always try to make sure they are on sale - preferably at least 30% off. I get so mad at myself when I buy something at full price only to find out it was discounted days later! You look super cute!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think you look adorable in that picture. Love the boots and tights!
ReplyDelete(Hog Wild indeed on the Old Navy order! Good for you! ....and you've got good taste ....loved the choices you made.)
You looked great in your clothes and I love everything you bought!!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! I love the outfit in the pic and all the clothes you chose are great all purpose pieces! Have you seen the $50 off $100 at NY&Co. lately? If you get on their mailing list, they let you know by email when they're doing it. You can use it for things on clearance too! I've been building my wardrobe in a very similar way using those! I even bought a cute little cloche hat; I love hats but haven't had a dress up one since high school!
