What Do You Have to Show for Your Weekend?

I got 12 of the 14 recipes done that I wanted to try out this past Sunday - it was so much fun to spend the day in my kitchen just going after it. It was even more fun since the kids were gone the ENTIRE time.

I realized a few things tho:

I can't multi-task to save my life in the kitchen - I do it fine with my family/chores/house/bills/carpool/job - but in the kitchen all bets are off. I can only do one recipe at a time - or something is bound to go wrong. I will burn something, myself or forget to follow the directions.

I can focus a whole lot better with music on. It's weird but it's like calming.

I need to cook more - I had to wash dust off several of my utensils that are in a pitcher on my counter, my kitchen aid was filthy which should be a crime, and I hate doing the dishes. Thank goodness a little soapy water worked wonders and Hubby was happy to lend a hand with the dishes.

I love to cook - it's like my guilty pleasure - but more than that I like to create things that my family will ooohh and ahhh over.  Maybe that's why it sucks so much when they bomb - like the pretzel peanut butter cookies - they were terrible. So salty and carby that you had to have a glass of water for every bite that you took.

I eat more when cooking than I do when dining out - I gotta taste everything - we'll just say that I am tasting for seasoning shall we?

As the day wore on I noticed that Hubby and I were back sliding into a different era. A time when the little woman was a slave in the kitchen and the man was drinking beer and watching football.

It was cute - but I put a stop to that as soon as the kids came home. I took off my apron, let him bathe and put the kids to bed while I ate my creations and laguished on the couch.

That's more my kind of era.

All pictures posted above are going to be featured over the next few month's on the food blog that I post on Tuesday's for. You should follow there if you want the recipes. :)

P.S. For those of you who got such a kick out of the conversations with my kids...I have a quick update...my 8 year old who thought he had a connection with the weird girl...said tonight that he is scared of her.

I might have laughed so hard I cried again.

I might have also had to explain once more that I am not laughing at him - but at the grown up things that he is saying.

  1. You did awesome in the kitchen this weekend! I love spending the day in the kitchen cooking and prepping. I really need to get back into that. I'm also loving that this house came with a cabinet mounted radio. I LOVE having my music while I'm working in there. It makes it soooo much easier!
