Blogging is like Yoga - It Centers You
My Morning Routine in a nutshell:Wake up, make coffee, pee, wash hands and face.
Get kids up/dressed/breakfast/brush teeth/make lunches on a good day/get them out the door.
Get cup of coffee/check e-mail/twitter/facebook/blog comments.
Write post if I was to lazy the night before.
Visit SITS - thanks to their great reminders. I think my turn is coming soon - so I am visiting and roll calling like crazy.
Visit Blog Family.
Get Ready for work.
I do this every morning - even on the weekend.
But this morning I forgot that I had to be out the door at almost the same time as the kids in order to take Miss Maddy on a field trip to the pumpkin patch - since we are "those" parents who don't let their kids ride on buses if we can help it.
I didn't get my cup of coffee, to really check my e-mail or visit my blogs - nothing. Just shower and out the door.
While I had the best time that I could with Miss Maddy's class
Like I didn't get mine.
This blogging thing has really become a way to get to know women who think like I do, try like I do and believe like I do (even if they are on the other side of the country or world.) I have come to depend on this interaction and back and forth - it gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment that I can't seem to get in my everyday life of wiping noses, checking homework and making dinner.
Blogging is a lot like yoga - I need it to center me - so that I can face the rest of the world on an even keel.

I hear you on the routine and how when it is off you feel off too. It's amazing how something so small can throw off your balance.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a great point here. I hop on every morning and aim for about 30 minutes of "me" time while the kids are eating breakfast & relaxing before we start the rush of getting them dressed & out the door.
ReplyDeleteRushed days make me off no matter what. I'm finally getting back into it enough, though, where I need my daily blogging time
ReplyDeleteIf I were a mom of kids on that trip, you can bet that you and I would be fast friends and talking smack together :D I have such a low tolerance for all that stuff you mentioned!!
ReplyDeleteI hate feeling rushed, it starts the day off on a bad foot. I like having my daily blogging time too, it just makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteI can also relate to the "other peoples children" too. I'm not a fan :) But, I will have to say that I may just be one of those moms who take the million pictures. It's what I love. I still get mad when someone else gets in my way....but I'm afraid I probably do it too. But I could only wish my camera were as big as my head lol.
I feel the same way - I will at times take a day or week off and I feel like something is missing. We have so much to keep us busy, we need a centering activity or two. :)
ReplyDeletelol the mom with the camera bigger than her head.
ReplyDeleteI fee the same about blogging. it's stress-relieving, therefore it's like yoga. One must write, write, write. and happy we'll be. =)

I hope tomorrow is a better day for you and you get to your morning routine. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this post! And, I feel the same way about blogging, it centers me! If nothing else, I have enjoyed meeting such wonderful women and learning so much about myself through blogging. It's such a great exercise. There's really nothing like it.

Stopping by from SITS! I agree... and I miss it, as since I'm JUST back to work full time, I don't have as much time to spend checking in with others!
ReplyDeleteI so agree! I work part time and the days I work I feel like I'm missing out on the bloggy world. Yet I also feel like I need to walk the fine line between blogging/online friends and spending time with my real life friends and of course, my family. It's a struggle sometimes because both make me happy...but blogging doesn't require me to brush my hair or wear makeup!
ReplyDeleteIt's so true. It really is an important part of our lives now!
ReplyDeleteVery true, and I feel the same about Twitter to. It's amazing the friendships and connections that have grown from blogging, and I am enjoying it more than I ever thought possible!
