Quotable Sunday # 9

It seems that when I get sick...I somehow revert back to being a 5 year old...I need my blanket!! LOL...I have been camped out on the couch with this old old old quilt that my Great Grandmother made(Thanks Mama...for sending home with me) oh and my tissues...and theraflu and dayquil and alkaSeltzer cold and cough...not all at once lol!!

Toni @ A Daily Dose of Toni host Quotable Sunday...if you would like to join in CLICK HERE!!

So I thought that it would be appropriate to do some quotes this Sunday about Quilts!!

Quilting Quotes

  1. A quilt is a treasure which follows its owner everywhere.

  2. Blankets wrap you in warmth, quilts wrap you in love.

  3. Good friends are like Quilts. They age with you, yet never lose their warmth.

  4. Our lives are like quilts - bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love.

  5. Quilters touch the past and the future.

  6. Those who sleep under a quilt, sleep under a blanket of love.

Black Wednesday for Etsy Shop Owners?

My Bloggy Friend Brandy @ The Buzz: My Coupon World has a great idea and agreed to guest post about it on my Blog!!

From The Buzz: My Coupon World:

Black Wed for Etsy shop owners?

Hello to all!

I have been thinking a lot lately, and thinking about how tight money is and how everyone is going through this financial struggle and how much stress it puts on a family and a marriage etc etc etc.

That combined with the WANT to shop on Black Friday and get killer deals I have decided to see if any of you Etsy shop owners wanted to join in on a BLACK FRIDAY party and have some killer prices (black friday prices if you will) in your shops to help out the financially stressed.

I realize not all of you have an Etsy shop, but I am asking for your help in spreading the word and getting people to join, I think we should ask each shop to list a handful of items at a DEEP discounted price and label them black friday/ or black friday pricing to help direct shoppers to the discounted items.

I also think that we should plan it for a day other than the REAL Black Friday so that we can run around town and get those Black Friday deals also. So what do you think? BLACK WED? before Thanksgiving...?

Who will join me, please leave your link to your shop in the mcklinky, leave a comment with your email addy and your shops sales details and what your shop sales.

If you don't have a shop leave me your thoughts and let me know if you will help spread the word by blogging about it and linking them here, or emailing family friends any anyone you can get to join, let's see how huge this can get!!!

*For all participants, I will put up a site link directly on my blog on a GRAND list from the day you sign up until the sale ends, to get people swinging by and hopefully to show my appreciation*

p.s. if anyone wants to create a PARTY button for this cause please help me out and let's do it!

GIVEAWAY CLOSED*****************Want to Win # 6

I would like to Introduce you to a fabulous Etsy shop that I found!!

Polarity offers the most unique jewelry I have seen in a while!! I love this locket that I purchased!!

One of the great things about my Necklace is that it has interchangeable lids!! I to switch out the lids to go with different outfits!! The shop owner was kind enough to include the family definition lid along with my owner and it has become my personal favorite!! I love that not only is my necklace beautiful!! It also brings a little whimsy to my life...I can put all kinds of little things inside...from pictures to notes from my kids or Hubby!!

The magnet on my necklace is very strong...this was something that I worried about when putting a picture in it...but I must say that the magnet is stronger than me...I had to use a little muscle to get it out!!

Polarity offers a wide variety of lids!! Here are just a few that I love!!

I love love love this one!! I think we as MOMS know that we all sometimes need a TIME OUT!!

A little from Polarity:

I am a mad scientist mom living life with polarity (the presence or manifestation of two opposite or contrasting principles or tendencies) at the beautiful Jersey shore! I seek to repurpose sustainable materials in unique and beautiful ways and leave the lightest possible footprint in my wake. The polarity locket is made from a used steel auto part that has been given new life as a piece of jewelry that with the help of a very strong magnet and some beautiful lids can turn one piece of jewelry into several- the idea of doing more with less is something I am absolutely committed to embracing in all facets of my work and life! Steel's distinctive environmental fingerprint has many advantages. More than half of the steel we see around us has already been recycled from scrap. This valuable material from old buildings, bridges etc. is a powerful energy and resource saver. It takes at least 60% less energy to produce steel from scrap than it does from iron ore. Waste disposal problems are lessened because used steel can be recycled over and over and its magnetic properties make it easier to separate in the waste stream. My other Etsy store is http://uncorked.etsy.com it celebrates the amazing and sustainable properties of CORK- please check it out. I will combine shipping. All Polarity jewelry is copyrighted February 2008; all designs used on the jewelry are copyrighted by the copyright holder and used here with permission. P.S. My shop banner is drawn by the amazing somethingwhimsical etsy artist Vincent Corona-Evans of my new pup Olive. Check out my blog at www.olivebites.blogspot.com and my website www.olivebites.com

CLOSED************************************************"Crayola Holiday Gifts" Giveaway

This holiday season, Crayola offers gifts that will light up your children´s imaginations and provide them with creative memories that will last a lifetime.

MyBlogSpark is sending me a "Crayola Holiday Gifts" Prize Pack...and while I usually wait to post these giveaway's until I recieve the items and get a chance to review them...this one was just way to exciting to wait for!!

My prize pack consists of: This
season´s hottest gifts from Crayola - Beginnings Color Me A Song, Color Explosion Glow Dome, and Glow Station.

The Crayola Color Explosion Glow Dome is sure to bring wide-eyed wonder to kids´ faces when the lights go out and they watch their artwork glow and spin on a moving, two-layered dome of light. Kids control the "glow-motion" fun and can dial up slow, medium or warp speed to create a wild, animated scene. For ages six and up; suggested retail price is $29.99.

The Crayola Beginnings Color Me A Song lets little ones draw to the beat of their own drum, trumpet, piano or guitar. This portable drawing and music creation station features a pressure-sensitive board that matches a melody to the artist´s pace. Draw fast, and the tempo picks up. Slow down, and so does the music. Four instrument buttons let kids pick their favorite sound. Color Me a Song was named a "Toy of the Year" by FamilyFun magazine and one of American Baby magazine´s picks for "Best Toys of the Year." For children 24 months and up; suggested retail price is $24.99.

The Crayola Glow Station illuminates children´s imaginations through the magic of drawing with light on a large-size glow-in-the-dark canvas. Using a light wand, children can either draw freehand or use stencils and texture sheets to create more realistic drawings. A diamond-shaped tip can be snapped on the end of the light wand for stamping unique starburst designs on the canvas. Drawings magically disappear over time, or can be "erased" by turning on the lights, so kids can create again and again for limitless fun. For children ages six and up; suggested retail price is $29.99.

My kids are going to be so excited to see this box arrive!! We are big fans of Crayola!!

Crayola would also like to share some exciting news about the Give the Gift of Creativity Sweepstakes, where you can enter to win a 7-night Caribbean cruise for a family of 4 on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas. Random Acts of Kindness

This week with Random Acts of Kindness I would like to share something that my Hubby told me a few months ago. He had read a story about Kurt Warner (Quarterback for Arizona Cardinals)- Kurt and his wife Brenda have a tradition that we both thought was pretty awesome.

They anonymously pay for meals for other families when eating out. Apparently while dining out their were frequently offered comp'd meals...leading them to think about the fact that now they can afford to eat out.

In a story from USA Today that I found online Brenda Warner talks about the way that she used to order when they would dine out...no appetizer, no dessert and drink water...sound familiar? In the interview that Hubby saw Kurt Warner talked about how they get the whole family involved in picking the family who's check they will take care of.

What a great way to teach their children compassion for others. After Hubby told me about this we were dining out and I started to look around at the families around me...had they saved up to be able to afford the luxury of eating out?

What RAOK had touched you recently?

TV Tuesday's

My bloggy friend Brandy @ The Buzz: My Coupon World has been hosting Tv Tuesday for the last 2 weeks and I finally have a chance to join in on the fun!! Now I DVR all my shows but there might be some spoilers in here -- if you haven't watched all your shows for the week...stop reading!! LOL!

If you would like to join in on the fun --- CLICK HERE!!

McDreamy took a lot of risks this week!! This was by far one of my favorite episodes...although their were a few moments that I could have lived without...the vomit scene....YUK!! But I love the heart diagram that was drawn on their bedroom wall!! That was amazing!! My heart stopped when the Chief said you fired...but I loved how they ended it...I mean come on...who are they kidding? What would this show be without him? I hate that Izzy didn't come back?

Oh Man did I cry this week while watching the Biggest Loser. While I was so sad to see Abby go -- I definitely think that this was the right person to be eliminated. I am not sure where she found the strength to go on after the horrific things that have happened to her. I love that she continued her weight loss at home!

I was so excited to get to see Dane from last season come to watch his record being broken!! That was freakin awesome!!

I gotta ask though...what is going on with Dan? I mean this kid has gotten another chance to change his life...I wonder what he is doing wrong...this program works if you follow it...I have done it myself so I speak from a little bit of experience...but I also have watched this show from the beginning and they are always doing something to stand in there own way...one contest wasn't eating all of his food and stopped losing weight another was adding soy sauce (salt) onto everything and stopped losing...so I gotta wonder what Dan is doing.

I really love this show though...I love to watch them change their lives...it is so inspiring!!

Although Tracy is a little scary right?

I just finished watching Kate: Her Story-- and I got to tell you I am baffled by this woman. I realize that her family has benefited financially from the show...that they have got to experience things that would have been otherwise impossible...but how can she not see the costs...why whine that she is lonely...if she wasn't willing to do what is necessary to save her family?

I am not by any means saying that she is fully responsible...but I know that if my marriage was in as bad shape...I would be at home trying to fix it...not on book tours. I know that TLC is trying to save those millions of viewers that have been tuning in for the last 5 years...but what is there left of this show that it started with? Their used to be so much love to watch...now I just feel sad.

I know at one point she said that she was not responsible for being on the tabloid covers ... but come on...who doesn't know what happens when a million people are tuning in to watch your show? I am thankful that they are pulling the show.. I hope that it is for good so that this family can get on with their lives and try to pick up the pieces that are left.

OMGOsh I love love love this show...how funny is MONICA? lol...She will forever be Monica to me...if you haven't checked out this show...get your butts to HULU!! I did notice that she looks to have had a little work done. I love the best friends, young office assistant, the neighbor, ex- husband....man this show has a lot of characters...but it's really funny how they all fit together...and I love love love the episode where they talk about not watching women eat!!

I caught this show on HULU also...Very Funny!! I watched all 5 episodes that are available!! I love the mix of characters from the gay brother trying to get his hubby to tone it down at baby dance class to the young daughter learning how to drive!! This show was definitely added to my DVR list!!

So that is what was memorable for me this week in TV Land...Oh that and the fact that SNL is in reruns already!!

What are you watching? Will you tune in to catch the Season Premiere of V? I am thinking about it.

Tasty Tuesday

This past month I have been following a menu plan with Tiffany @
eat at home...I signed up for her e-mail updates some time ago...and she has some amazing recipes!! If you are having trouble coming up with things to make...sign up for her e-mail updates, you will never be at a loss for what to make for dinner! I did the "Filling up My Freezer." She says you will cook once and eat twice!! Click on the link for shopping list and recipes!! I really enjoyed all the meals and it was so easy to make twice as much and freeze the rest.

On the Menu

Taco Soup
Chicken and Dressing Casserole Beef Stew Virus Killing Soup Chicken Enchiladas This is the only one that I don't have a picture of...I was a little distracted with getting my blog back online and just plain forgot.

Stuffed Shells On the Menu for Tuesday!!!

and a bonus dessert -- "MONSTER" Cookies Besides all this yumminess...I have in my freezer --

A large batch of frozen cookie balls ( I have made 6 cookies at a time 2 or 3 times since the night that I made them...so easy!!

Chicken and dressing casserole
Chicken Enchiladas

I have a great big batch of Taco Soup

I would have had the other half of the Virus Killing Soup..but I was letting it cool on the counter top and got a little sleepy...woke up the next morning and had to throw it out...:(

I also would have had the Beef Stew but my crock pot is small...was only able to fit one batch in...but it was so easy and now that I have the ingredients on hand...I can throw it together another day!!

I will also have a batch of stuffed shells by the end of tonight!! I have never done any cooking like this...but I have to say it was much easier than I thought it was going to be. I did buy a couple of foil throw away pans to put my enchilada's and casseroles in, but the cookies, stuffed shells and Taco soup are just being stored in Ziploc Bags.

So what are you cooking tonight?
