Frito Lay Tailgating Kit Giveaway
A few months ago I entered a giveaway @ The Happy Housewife that was sponsored by Frito Lay...I entered my Favorite Meal of All Time...you know what I am going to say right? UMM Yeah it is Turkey Chili (aka Turkey Frito Chili Pie!!) You can view the recipe HERE...So if you are wondering...I didn't win...but I did get asked to host the very same giveaway here on my blog!! YAHHH!! As a part of hosting this giveaway I will receive a Frito Lay Tailgating Kit that is pictured below.
Ok a little background about Frito Lay's view on tailgating:
Football season is finally here…and everyone knows that game day just isn’t complete without the ultimate tailgating party! Whether it’s with a group of friends huddled outside the stadium or the family gathered around the TV in the den, tasty food and snacks are essential to a “winning” tailgating experience.
Tailgating for most of us conjures images of greasy pizza and saucy wings. With a little vision and planning, you can score big by offering a menu that's just as delicious but a bit better for you.
Fewer penalties, better tailgating…
Few people go to tailgate parties for the veggie – it’s definitely a time to indulge and enjoy. But it doesn’t have to be a total eating catastrophe. At Frito-Lay, our portion control sizes make it easy to enjoy all your favorite treats – in moderation. And simple “tricks” like offering dips made with reduced-fat sour cream or that offer positive nutrition like salsa or guacamole, cooking with lean turkey meat and fat-free refried beans can cut hundreds of calories off your meals and still taste great for you and your hungry fans.
Better-For-You Tailgate Recipe Contest-- Winner will receive this Frito Lay Tailgating Kit which includes Frito Lay Chips, Awesome Serving Dish (which the lid of can be used as a second bowl with second stand) and $25.00 American Express gift card to buy supplies for your next tailgating party!!
(approximate value: $50)
To Enter to WIN: Post a recipe on your blog and add the link on this post. If you don’t have a blog leave your recipe in the comments section.
The recipe requirements:
Recipes must have a healthy twist. That means using healthier ingredients such as fresh or natural ingredients and recipes must include Frito-Lay product(s). They can be incorporated in many ways:
. In the recipes themselves, such as Frito-pies
. Tostitos-base in taco salads dishes/dip
. Tostitos scoops or various other Lays chips used for “dipping” the recipes
A winner (chosen by me) on Sunday November 29th!! I will judge recipes based on taste and use of better-for-you ingredients!!

That looks yummy...

ReplyDelete3/4 bag of Frito Corn Chips
1 whole Chicken Breast
1 can of Organic Black Beans
1 can of Organic Corn
1 can of Olives (thinly sliced)
1 large Fresh Tomato (diced)
2 cups of shredded Cheddar Cheese

Salsa
Guacamole

First, I pan fry the chicken breast, shredding (or cubing) it, and adding a little taco seasoning. In a 9X13 pan, I put a layer of Fritos. Sprinkle the chicken, black beans, corn, olives, tomato, onion, garlic, and cheese over the corn chips. Stick it in the preheated 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Take it out, once the cheese has melted, and everyone can add their desired toppings. For those who love really spicy food, you can add jalapeno peppers. :)

Half-Time Twice Baked Potatoes
ReplyDelete6 large baked potatoes, halved lengthwise
1 jar Frito-Lay Salsa
1 cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup sliced black olives
1/2 cup black beans
1 cup no-fat or low-fat shredded cheddar cheese
Non-stick cooking spray

Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Scoop out the interior of the cooked potatoes and reserve the potato shells. Place potato pulp in a large mixing bowl. To the bowl add: salsa, green onions, sliced black olives, black beans, and cheddar cheese. Mix well. Spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Fill each potato shell with the mixture, mounding it high. Place all filled potato halves on the prepared cookie sheet. Evenly sprinkle the crushed Fritos on top of the potato halves and use a spoon to press the Frito crumbs lightly into the potato mixture. Bake about 35 minutes in oven or until potato is heated through. Serve half a potato as an appetizer or side dish or an entire potato as an entree. Enjoy!

I like a similar dip as everyone else has, but like to mix it a little from my normal 7-layer dip recipe, by using:
ReplyDeleteBeans as a bottom layer, just a thin layer.
Diced green onions
Avocodos - thinly sliced andin small pieces
Thin layer of greek yogurt
Fresh tomatoes-diced in small squares
Fresh Lettuce, chopped in small bits (that's an official cooking word right?)
Eat with fritos - yum yum yum!! Super easy. Very filling.
